YOUR HEALTH COUNTS: The Next Step
A short time ago I took a bioIQ™ test to see how I was doing health-wise and to—hopefully—improve my health over time. That was step one of a three-step process.
After I got a notice that my results were available, I clicked on the link that took me to my results. My test results, I have to admit, were okay but not as good as I wanted. Still, I did a small "woo-hoo" because I knew I'd made some bad choices over the holidays—Christmas cookies are my downfall. Despite that, I was doing pretty good!
The next step is to go onlineto complete a Personal Health Assessment. I did that by logging into my personal account. You use your policy number and group number to establish a personal account, if you haven't done that already. If you haven't, you should ... there is tons of great information there. (BTW: your policy number is on the front of your ODS ID Card.)
All I had to do was fill in the “know your numbers” section of the Personal Health Assessment on the website, and answer a few questions to complete the assessment. This questionnaire provides the statistics used to come up with my own personal evaluation and health plan.
After spending say, 15 minutes filling it out, the website gave me a personal health report, with an overall “lifestyle score,” (I rock, by the way!), information about some health risks and (Okay, I admit, there was room for improvement) a list of health habits to focus on as I get started toward a healthier new me.
I can even get a personal summary to share with my doctor the next time I go in, and the summary suggested some additional pages to check out that gave wellness tips that fit with my results.
So if you're lucky enough to be covered by one of AET's ODS Health benefits plans, take a moment to visit the BioIQ™ website and create your account to receive a free A1c/Diabetes and Cholesterol test kit. It only takes a couple minutes to get started.
You can make a difference in your health, and just think, a simple test kit might be all it takes to save your life. Wondering what step three is? It's to inform your Benefits Administrator or HR person that you have completed the wellness program requirements.
P.S.If your employer is not one of hundreds of member companies – representing thousands of employees and their families – that contract with Associated Employers Trust (AET) to provide their employees with quality healthcare through ODS Health, and the "Your HEALTH Counts!" wellness program, maybe it's time to ask if you can find out more about this excellent program.
