Supervisors act as a critical link between the employer and its employees and speak on behalf of the employer as its “agent.” Untrained supervisors can create liability or an obligation to act on behalf of the employer, intentionally or not. Given this unique role, it is critical that supervisors receive training regarding an overview of employment law issues, allowing them to spot issues before they become problems – minimizing legal liability and adding to operational efficiency.
